Our mission is to provide personalised mentorship to the next generation of NHS healthcare professionals, empowering and inspiring them to become successful and fulfilled in the careers. By prioritising individual growth and development, we aim to create a supportive environment from the ground up, enabling NHS Staff to provide exceptional care while promoting their personal wellbeing and happiness. Explore our core curriculum and personalise your mentoring programme by choosing which areas you would like to focus on. Each curriculum topic is delivered across a variety of platforms, to provide you with choice. These include in-person and virtual events, e-learning videos with our virtual avatar Chief Mentors, online blogs and podcasts. The aim is to help you develop confidence by learning about a topic, giving you the opportunity to put those skills in action, and then mentor others in the skill that you have now mastered!
National Healthcare Mentor was founded on extensive research conducted through focus groups and surveys with doctors and dentists. In light of the current retention crisis, a key finding from participating healthcare professionals is that they are more likely to stay within the NHS if they have greater access to personal and professional development opportunities, along with mentors and a supportive community. Additionally, they expressed that they would feel more empowered to drive change at both local and national levels, enhancing patient care and improving NHS systems.

National Healthcare Mentor is also based on the belief that mentoring is a two-way process. Mentees can learn from their mentors, but mentors can also learn from their mentees. The programme is designed to promote a culture of continuous learning and development, where NHS Staff can grow both personally and professionally.
